Do As I Say and Not As I Do

I think it's some type of Southern Baptist/baby boomer thing going on. The situation goes:

You (as a child) spill a drink on the floor at that moment, it's stressed that you pick up that at that moment.

Your mom spills a drink on the floor Tuesday, she doesn't pick up until next Thursday.

It's twisted. It's like that...because, I don't know...I think it's because of what I said when I started this post. I'm starting to feel like "Parents Just Don't Understand". I mean, I understand all the religion, religion...but I'm saying "Treat Them Like They Want To Be Treated". You remember that jam! I do.
But I don't like the way that is. I just don't.
