In the event of Thicke's new album in stores I thought I would put this up.
This is an old piece I did when Thicke's 2nd CD came out. Take a look...
First, off I'm really glad Thicke's getting top R&B radio play, with his single "Lost Without You" but ya'll totally slept on his first album "A Beautiful World". I bought his first album based off the single "When I Get You Alone" heard on a Sprite commercial and the energy of his video for the single I saw on VH1. This dude's vibe caught me right off the back. Thicke has a blue-eyed soul style that he mixes with R&B, pop, and rock. Thicke also wrote and produced the whole album along with his partner Pro J. This album is phenomenal. The work put into this album also led to him working on Usher's "Confessions" writing and producing the song "Can You Handle It". If you've listened to "A Beautiful World" the whole way through, the song obviously has Thicke written all over it. He also scored the title song of the blockbuster movie Shooter for its soundtrack.
With this new album, "The Evolution of Robin Thicke", he obviously goes for commercial appeal and succeeds with appearances from the Neptunes, Faith Evans, and Lil' Wayne. P. and Weezy both supply laid back raps unlike "A Beautiful World" that had no rap cameos. Although I like the songs "Wanna Love You Girl" (produced by the Neps), "Shooter", and "Lost Without You" I think it pales in comparison to "A Beautiful World".
The Evolution does score Robin his first platinum plaque, however, and for that I am proud he's finally getting the proper recognition he deserves after all this time. I guess it did take Interscope/Star Trak's backing to give this incredible artist an extra lift to the masses. But that's just me; I guess Thicke gotta eat too.

Please don't be offended by the word "n*ggaz". I couldn't change the article that much...LOL!
