M.I.A. this, M.I.A. that!

Artist M.I.A. isn't really M.I.A. (Missing In Action) at all. She's EVERYWHERE!
I'm not surprised that her single, "Paper Planes", is getting radio play non-stop in HOUSTON now. Even if the song is over a year old, it's just that the normal crowd is a little slow at catching on. She's been keeping the hipsters jammin' since her first effort Arular. Her recent album Kala has only gotten her mainstream attention.
I first heard about her a year ago when I started working for Cornerstone Promotion. The first video they screened of hers on the staff site was "Boyz" and I had NO idea what to think of it.
It was reggae, but it wasn't. It was noisy, but it was refined. M.I.A. was cute, but she was ugly. LOL! It was just a mixed feeling when I first saw that video.
Anyway, my marketing skills were just brewing at the beginning of her promotion at Cornerstone and there was a contest to brainstorm ideas for the release of her album Kala. I decided to enter it and here's the complete e-mail I sent Cornerstone for this contest (minus the private stuff):

I think the only idea of mine that may have made it to masses was the R&B remix idea I had that probably came to be the "Paper Planes" remix featuring Bun B and Rich Boy. That's not bad at all. I'm proud.
I had no idea she would grow to be so popular, but it looks as if she deserves it. I can't listen to the radio without "Paper Planes" being in constant rotation on all of the stations I listen to.
The song's also been featured on the Pineapple Express movie commercials that used to air every minute on TV. Other than my creative and brilliant marketing strategies, I think that commercial helped M.I.A. a lot too.
Also, those USBs Cornerstone wanted ideas for seem to be these (now featured on her site):

From my knowledge, it looks as if M.I.A. could be around for a long time. I remember when she came to HOUSTON a while back, but I couldn't go for some reason. She's certainly surprised me since then, though. I used to think she was weird as hell.
I think I stand corrected now....
