This week, he gave me a peek into his 'lil hip-hop filled world. I think you should peek in too...
F Hollywood F.L.O.S.S. meaning Flawless Lawless Opposin Stagnant Situations...and i rep Houston all day everyday!
Me How did you get your name man?
F I got my name from my group member KIDD. I was blessed to get new gear and items early on, and it impressed the ladies or whatever, so whenever we would go out, I'd have some new clothes and he would say I'm flossin on everybody all the time, but it was just me being me really. Originally it was Flossy B, but later when I started rapping, I turned it to F.L.O.S.S so i could be taken serious for my lyrics and music. Flossy B is too generic for me, LOL.
Me Who are some artists you draw inspiration from while making your music?
F Most definitely Andre 3000, Cee-Lo, N.E.R.D, Prince, and Jay-Z. I mean...I love all types of music, but to narrow it down, those 5 artists is where I pull the most inspiration from. Perfect mix of creative freedom and strong business sense .
Me Where do see yourself in 5 years in the hip-hop industry?
F I see myself producing more and being a behind the scenes executive. I've always had an ear for good music, and I've started learning the piano so its only natural I progress to producing other artist's projects and putting down the mic. I love to emcee, but its only so many topics you can cover.
Me I see you admire the Neptunes. You got this Pharrell vibe about yourself. What do you like about those guys?
F Mos Def. I admire them. I still remember hearing In Search Of... for the first time and it was some of the best shit my ears had ever heard. So for me to like them, its def. their creative freedom and not being scared to push music, especially rap music, to new heights time and time again. That's what I mean when I say FLOSS - flawless lawless opposin stagnant situations. I don't want to be held down by any so called "musical standards". NO boundaries please...I'd do country, or techno, or whatever and make it sound HOT!
Me What was the first hip-hop album you bought?
F Umm, thats a very good question. I think it was Creepin On A Come Up by Bone Thugs, haha! I think I snuck and bought it. Of course I had heard rap before then, but actually being able to buy a album with my own money...I think it was Bone Thugs .
Me What artists have you worked with?
F Fat Tony of the Low Ends, Dee Rail, JRC, 50 Fifty Twin, JV of 7303 records, The Council, Mai Duce, KIDD, Yung Bill, Young Roc, Bad Tae...and this summer the list will grow ten fold. Before I was an in-house worker, now I'm getting better and trying to expand the FLOSS brand name so I'm making more of an effort to get collabs with other artists.
Me Being a man of so many talents like myself, where do you ultimately want to be in the music industry?
F Plain and simple, "In the Business". I don't care if it's locally or worldwide, I just want to make this my living. I love it!!! Shout outs to The WEB, and my other group E Pluribus Unum...
So there you have it peeps, Hollywood F.L.O.S.S. in full effect. I hope you enjoyed learning about this dude as much as I did. He seems to have just what it takes...
